DEWEYVILLE, Texas — A Louisiana man wanted on multiple felony charges was arrested Monday in Deweyville following a joint operation between the Newton County Sheriff’s Office and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
According to Newton County Sheriff Colton Havard, deputies were contacted by the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office regarding Justin Lee Masten, who was reportedly staying at a residence off County Road 4188. Masten was wanted out of Beauregard Parish on warrants for aggravated battery and domestic battery — strangulation.
Deputy K. Dixon, accompanied by Orange County deputies, responded to the address to conduct a warrant service. Upon arrival, Masten was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Newton County Jail.
Sheriff Havard credited strong inter-agency communication for the successful arrest.
“We’re proud to have excellent working relationships with all surrounding agencies to bring these individuals to justice,” Havard said.
Masten remains in custody pending extradition to Louisiana.
