LONGVIEW, Texas — The chairman of a Longview funeral home is facing felony charges after investigators say he misapplied funds from a prepaid funeral policy belonging to an elderly East Texas resident.

Joshua Henry Anderson Sr., 32, chairman of Rosewood Funeral Home in Longview, was indicted in late October 2025 on charges of Misapplication of Fiduciary Property and Securing a Document by Fraud, according to Gregg County records.

The indictment alleges Anderson knowingly mishandled $2,500 to $30,000 in funds belonging to policyholder Beverly Hanon, which were intended to cover funeral benefits for her sister, Geneva Williams. Despite a contractual agreement, investigators say Anderson failed to fully fund the prepaid funeral policy.

Authorities also allege that Anderson deceived Hanon into signing a document on November 13, 2018, connected to the disputed contract.

Anderson was arrested on December 1, 2025 and later released from the Gregg County Jail after posting a $5,000 bond.

His wife, Khadijah Anderson, serves as the funeral home’s vice president and funeral director; she is not charged in the case.

All charges remain allegations, and Anderson is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
