WOODVILLE, TX — Sullivan’s Hardware announced Thursday that longtime owner Mr. Fred Sullivan passed away Thursday morning following recent health concerns.
In a statement shared by the business, the Sullivan family said Mr. Sullivan had not been doing well over the past two weeks and expressed appreciation for the outpouring of support from the community.
“We know he’s at peace now and is now home with Mrs. Sullivan,” the statement read. “Thank you all for all the thoughts, prayers, positive energies, love and support over the past few weeks.”
Sullivan’s Hardware, established in 1944, has long been a fixture in Woodville, and Mr. Sullivan was widely recognized for both his role in the family-owned business and his decades of service to the community. The family shared that the store will remain open as usual for now, though they may close on certain days as they mourn his passing. Any changes will be shared as they occur.
In addition to his work at Sullivan’s Hardware, Mr. Sullivan was deeply involved in local civic life. According to the Tyler County Dogwood Festival, he served the organization in numerous leadership roles over the years, including Crown Bearer, Master of Ceremonies, festival president for 13 years, and as a longtime Kingsman. Festival officials have previously credited Mr. Sullivan with offering steady leadership, guidance, and a lasting commitment to the community.
At this time, no information has been released regarding memorial or funeral services. The family said details will be shared once arrangements are finalized.
The Sullivan family and staff expressed their gratitude for the continued support shown by the Woodville community during this time.
