Log truck roll over accident on FM 777

At 12:32am Beech Grove Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a single vehicle rollover accident on FM 777 between CR 144 and CR 138.

Arriving units found a loaded log truck had overturned in the roadway, which resulted in the log trailer breaking in half and the logs scattering across the highway. The driver of the truck was the only occupant.

BGVFD assessed the driver for injuries and rendered aid until the arrival of Allegiance Mobile Health - Jasper EMS. Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Shana Clark said that the driver, 58-year-old Willie Rigsby, of Woodville was transported to Christus JMH with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.

Clark added that Rigsby was driving the 2015 Peterbilt at a speed which was unsafe around a curve and traveled into the west ditch, causing the truck-tractor and semi-trailer to overturn.

As the roadway was impassable, it was closed. The accident was investigated and the wreckage was removed from the roadway by Jasper Xxon Towing And Recovery. Texas Department of Transportation - Jasper Maintenance removed the logs from the roadway and cleaned up the small oil/diesel spill on the roadway.

The roadway remained closed for approximately 3 hours, re-opening at approximately 3:30am.

BGVFD responded with an engine and 7 firefighters.
