EVADALE, Texas — Evadale ISD was briefly placed on lockdown Tuesday after law enforcement responded to a reported incident at Eastex Credit Union.
School administrators said the decision was made out of an abundance of caution, and staff immediately secured all students in safe locations. The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office notified the district as deputies were en route to the credit union.
Within minutes, deputies confirmed there was no threat. The lockdown lasted less than five minutes, and students quickly returned to their normal schedule.
District officials commended staff and students for staying calm and following safety procedures.
"We are proud of how well our staff and students responded — staying calm, prepared, and following procedures. Student safety will always remain our top priority," the district said in a statement.
