Local Students Commit to SFA During DETCCA Decision Day Ceremony

On Tuesday, Deep East Texas College & Career Academy (DETCCA) celebrated SFA Decision Day, where 37 students from six local high schools—Burkeville, Jasper, Kirbyville, Newton, Spurger, and Woodville—officially signed their certification of intent to enroll at Stephen F. Austin State University this fall.

As part of the ceremony, students received Academic Excellence Scholarships totaling up to $286,000 over four years. DETCCA representative Monica Loa also presented CARRI scholarships to select students, amounting to $14,000 in additional awards.

The event marks a formal step in the students’ postsecondary planning and highlights ongoing efforts to support college readiness across the region.
