KIRBYVILLE, TX- With all the bad weather recently, our area has received an abundance of lightning strikes and with them, sometimes comes unexpected damages.

On Thursday morning, just before 11:00, the Kirbyville Volunteer Fire Department was called out to a home located at 401 South Herndon Street in Kirbyville. The caller stated that her home was hit by lightning and had smoke coming inside.
Upon arrival, firefighters immediately looked for damages inside and outside of the home. 2nd Assistant Chief David Jones said, "We didn't find any damages, so we used our exhaust fans to evacuate any smoke or fumes from inside the home. What we did find outside was that a Center Point gas meter was leaking next to the residence. We bypassed the diaphragm and waited on Center Point to arrive and complete the repairs."
There were no injuries reported.
