Lamar State College Port Arthur Former Public Information Officer Arrested; Charged With Possession of Child Pornography

A former public information officer for Lamar State College Port Arthur (LSCPA) has been arrested on a felony charge following a state investigation.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Gerry Dickert, 59, was taken into custody Wednesday by the Fugitive Warrant Division. The arrest was made based on a warrant filed by the Texas Attorney General’s Office. Dickert is charged with Possession of Child Pornography, involving 100–500 visual depictions.
A judge set his bond at $100,000.
LSCPA confirmed that campus leadership was notified of the criminal investigation on Wednesday. The college reports that Dickert is no longer employed, and emphasized he had no classroom role and did not have access to students or student records. LSCPA stated it is fully cooperating with law enforcement.
Dickert previously served as the college’s Public Information Officer, handling media releases and communications for the institution.
No further details have been released. The investigation is ongoing.
