On Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m., Jasper County Deputy Shannon Davis was initially called out to the Jiffy Mart in Buna regarding a suspicious vehicle, but before Deputy Davis' arrival, the driver moved the vehicle to Valero.
The driver was found to be without a valid driver's license, so Davis allowed her to call someone to pick her up.
When the person she had called arrived, Davis checked her driver's license as well. It was found that this woman, identified as 43-year-old Cynthia Payton of Kirbyville was wanted out of Jefferson County on an Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon warrant which is a 2nd Degree Felony. Payton was arrested and transported to the Jasper County Jail.
Payton will go before the judge Sunday morning to discuss bond.
As always, Payton is considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
