Kirbyville VFD called to a small brush fire Tuesday afternoon

At 2:23 Tuesday afternoon, Kirbyville Volunteer Fire Department was called out to a home on Hwy 1013 East, just east of Cr 583 for a brush fire.

A man living in the home identified as only as a maintenance person said, "I'm only just now getting here. I haven't burned anything in two weeks". He indicated a stump that was burned sometime in the past few weeks. "It's just been way too windy to burn anything lately."

The cause of the blaze is currently unknown, however it appears to have originated near a garbage burn area.
