Kirbyville teen died of what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound

While details are still unclear at this time, what is known is that on Monday morning at around 11am, a 14-year-old Kirbyville High School student died of what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Investigators said that the child who lived in the home located on CR 559 in Kirbyville with his grandmother and father apparently shot himself with a 22 caliber rifle.

Pct. 3 Justice of the Peace Mike Smith has ordered an autopsy.
