KIRBYVILLE, Texas — Big things are taking off in Southeast Texas. Allegiance Air Medical has officially announced that its Kirbyville-based Allegiance Air 1 team is now fully staffed and preparing for intensive training, marking a major milestone for emergency medical response in the region.
Over the past few weeks, Allegiance Air 1 received more than 35 applications for its Flight Nurse and Flight Paramedic positions. The final selections include clinicians with extensive critical care backgrounds and prior flight experience, each driven by a shared mission — to serve Southeast Texas with skill, heart, and professionalism.
Their journey begins Monday, October 6, with a one-week Pre-Academy online training program, followed by two weeks of in-person instruction in Phoenix at PHI Air Medical Headquarters. The Phoenix curriculum includes advanced aviation medical courses such as AMRAM, NVG (Night Vision Goggle) Training, Cactus Academy, and Flight Academy, scheduled from October 13–24.
Upon their return to Kirbyville, the crew will complete three additional weeks of intensive hands-on training at the local base, focusing on skills labs, simulated emergency scenarios, and interfacility transport drills. They’ll also receive advanced instruction from the Medical Director and Clinical Coordination Team to ensure readiness for every mission.
This collaboration between Allegiance Air Medical and PHI Air Medical reinforces a shared commitment to bringing world-class critical care air transport to Southeast Texas.
Community leaders and residents alike are celebrating the progress, as Kirbyville’s Air 1 base represents faster response times, stronger regional coverage, and another layer of lifesaving capability for rural East Texas.
Allegiance Air 1 shared in a recent announcement:
“We couldn’t be more excited to watch this team grow, train, and take flight. Stay tuned as we share updates from their journey — and help us welcome these incredible clinicians to Southeast Texas!”
