KIRBYVILLE, Texas — Emergency response in southern Jasper County just got a major upgrade. After months of planning and contract work, Jasper County Emergency Services District No. 3 (ESD 3) has officially launched a dedicated ambulance unit operated by Allegiance Mobile Health — one of the largest private EMS providers in Texas.

This marks the first time ESD 3 has had an ambulance assigned solely to its jurisdiction, serving rural areas outside city limits, including communities east of Kirbyville and surrounding areas.

What This Means for Residents

Instead of relying on ambulances that cover multiple zones or are shared across long distances, ESD 3 now has a stationed ambulance focused on their response area.

Local officials say the goal is simple — cut response times and increase survivability. In rural emergencies, every minute matters, especially during cardiac events, traumatic injuries, or structure fires where multiple agencies are working the same call.

Paid For By Local Taxpayers

This isn’t a grant, and it’s not a temporary assignment.

The funding came directly from taxpayers within ESD 3, whose voter-approved tax revenue finances fire protection and EMS services.

Their investment is now delivering tangible results.

Why Allegiance Mobile Health?

ESD 3 leadership selected Allegiance after evaluating multiple providers. Allegiance already operates in surrounding counties and is familiar with the unique challenges of East Texas — rural roads, long distances between calls, and limited cell service in some areas.

The partnership allows:

  • A 24/7 ambulance dedicated to ESD 3

  • Staffing by licensed EMTs and paramedics

  • Integration into Jasper County 911 dispatching

A Win for Rural Public Safety

For years, residents have expressed concerns about ambulance availability in emergencies. With an assigned unit now operating locally, ESD 3 is delivering what people have consistently asked for:

  • Faster response

  • Dedicated service

  • Improved access to emergency medical care

This is not just an administrative change — it’s a life-saving one.
