On Monday, June 23rd at 3:00 pm, Jasper County Dispatch notified Kirbyville Police about an assault that had taken place by a man against his mother.
Dispatch stated that they could hear the man telling his mother that he was going to kill her before hanging the phone up.
Kirbyville Sergeant Josh Hancock, Police Chief Paul Brister, and Justice of the Peace Mike Smith arrived at the home in the west end of Kirbyville and spoke to the woman.
According to the probable cause affidavit, the woman said that her son, 62-year-old Eric Breed of Kirbyville came into her home and told her that he wanted certain documents and began walking down the hallway. She told him to leave. It was at this point Breed became belligerent and screaming at his mother. He grabbed her right arm and said that he was going to get rid of her. She was able to 'get away' but then he grabbed a walking stick and began punching and hitting her with it.
The woman told Hancock that she was afraid for her life and grabbed a pair of scissors to defend herself, but Breed took them from her. Thankfully, she wasn't further injured and Breed left the residence.
After speaking with the victim, the officers walked behind the house to a building which was Breeds residence. When they got there, the door was open and Breed was completely naked. He became aggressive when given orders. When ordered to show his hands, Breed ran towards Hancock who pulled out his taser and ordered him to stop. Breed continued to be aggressive against the officer and attempted to slam the door. Hancock and Smith were able to stop him from shutting the door completely and Hancock deployed a 'drive stun' to Breeds left arm, and was able to place him into custody.
Breed is currently incarcerated at the Jasper County Jail. He has not calmed down enough to see a judge so he will not have a bond until that time. He has been charged with Aggravated Assault with a Weapon against a Family Member and Resisting Arrest.
