Kirbyville Man Arrested for Deadly Conduct and Possession of Firearm by Felon

KIRBYVILLE, TX-
At 8:00 a.m. Monday morning, Jasper County Sergeant Cody Christopher was called out to County Road 451, north of Kirbyville. The caller stated that a man approached them and presented a gun because he believed the caller was in possession of stolen property.
Christopher said that multiple deputies arrived on scene, where 43-year-old James Chaney of Kirbyville was already disarmed.
Following an investigation, Christopher said it was discovered that the caller did not have any stolen property.
Chaney was arrested for Deadly Conduct- Class A Misdemeanor and Unlawful Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon which is a 3rd Degree Felony. He was transported to the Jasper County Jail.
Chaney is considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
