Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard said, "On April 22nd of this year, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office received an anonymous tip from Crime Stoppers of Southeast Texas. The tip was from a concerned citizen regarding inappropriate communication between a 41 year old man and a 12 year old female child."
Jasper County Investigator David Lampman was immediately assigned to the case. The child's mother was interviewed and a forensic interview was conducted with the girl.
Havard said in a press release, "The investigation revealed that digital images and video of sexual content were exchanged between the suspect and the victim. An arrest warrant for Online Solicitation of a Minor which is a 1st Degree Felony was obtained for 41-year-old Randy McCullough of Kirbyville on May 19th and we started actively pursuing him."
Because McCullough was a long haul truck driver he could not be captured locally so the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office contacted the United States Marshal’s Service to help locate him.
On Friday, June 6th, McCullough was arrested on the Jasper County warrant in Hendricks County, Indiana in a joint operation with the U.S. Marshals, F.B.I, Indiana State Police and local law enforcement.
McCullough is being held in the Hendricks County Jail awaiting extradition back to Jasper County.
Sheriff Havard closed by saying, "I would like to thank our local, state and federal partners in Texas and Indiana for their hard work and dedication in locating this individual. I also want to thank the hard work of our Investigator David Lampman and District Attorney Anne Pickle. Additionally, we are very grateful for our partnership with Crime Stoppers of Southeast Texas. Arrangements are being made at this time to bring McCullough back to Jasper County. We will utilize every resource available to go after wanted fugitives no matter where they are."
