Keep Jasper Beautiful Recognized as Silver Star Affiliate by Keep Texas Beautiful

Honored for Exceptional Community Improvement Efforts

JASPER, TEXAS - Keep Texas Beautiful (KTB), a statewide nonprofit dedicated to environmental sustainability and community improvement, has recognized Jasper as a Silver Star Affiliate. Silver Star is a designation awarded to high-achieving communities committed to environmental excellence.

"Keep Texas Beautiful affiliates are the heart of our mission, and we are proud to recognize those that go above and beyond," said Suzanne Kho, Executive Director of Keep Texas Beautiful. "We are proud to recognize those who go the extra mile to create cleaner, greener, and more beautiful communities. Silver Star Affiliates are actively engaging local residents, leading cleanups, promoting sustainability, and making a lasting impact.”

In 2024, KTB affiliates engaged over 60,000 volunteers who contributed to collecting over 1 million pounds of waste and recyclables from Texas roadways, trails, and waterways.  Jasper played a key role in this effort, implementing programs that reduce litter, promote recycling, and enhance the local environment.

Through our Fall Texas Trash Off to our Spring Great American Clean Ups we continue to make a small difference in the community. The partnership with the Jasper Master Gardeners and Longleaf Pine Master Naturalist and the City of Jasper, we are small but strong.  If you are interested in volunteering or sponsoring a section of town, please contact us.

All year round, Jasper has something happening. Jasper will captivate your mind and your heart. You'll find many reasons to come back to Jasper... for a weekend or a lifetime.

To earn Silver Star status, affiliates must showcase strong organizational capacity, community involvement, and a commitment to KTB’s mission. This includes demonstrating economic development efforts, community outreach efforts, and participation in programs such as the Beautify Texas Awards or the Governor’s Community Achievement Awards. KTB will recognize Silver Star communities during the 2025 Keep Texas Beautiful Conference in Austin on May 6, 2025.

About Keep Texas Beautiful

Keep Texas Beautiful (KTB) is a non-profit organization dedicated to making Texas the best place to live, work, and play! Our mission is to inspire and empower Texans to make their communities clean and beautiful. We provide resources for community improvement projects, clean-ups, and youth engagement efforts across the state. Our Keep Texas Recycling program provides technical assistance, education, and access to markets to increase recycling in rural and underserved communities.

Everything we do is focused on mobilizing volunteers to take action by providing them with tools, resources, and training. Our fieldwork includes research on best practices for litter reduction along with the development of community programs to prevent the flow of litter to the Gulf of Mexico.

Founded in 1967, Keep Texas Beautiful’s work is driven by its network of affiliate members, communities, volunteers, and supporters that span the state, and reach 17 million Texans annually.
