K9 drug arrests in Newton County

On February 11, during the midnight shift, Newton County Deputy Gilley was working traffic and stopped a 2022 Dodge Truck for an equipment violation on Hwy 12 East in Deweyville.


K9 Jack and Deputy Nash arrived on the scene to assist.


uring the traffic stop K9 Jack performed an open-air sniff of the vehicle. K9 Jack had a positive alert to vehicle. A search was conducted and found drug paraphernalia and 1.57 grams of a crystal-like substance that tested positive on a field test as Methamphetamine.


The driver and the passenger were taken into custody and are pending arraignment for Possession of C/S PG 1/1-B>=1G<4G.


Once arraigned, ETB will release information on the subjects once it is made available.
