JCSO Honors Captain Joe Pomponio as June Employee of the Month

The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office is proud to recognize Captain Joe Pomponio as the Employee of the Month for June.

Captain Pomponio serves as the Assistant Jail Administrator and has been a dedicated member of the JCSO team for the past two years. Before joining the sheriff’s office, he retired from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) after an impressive 29-year career, where he reached the rank of Lieutenant.

Known for his unwavering work ethic, Captain Pomponio brings a wealth of experience and leadership to one of the most demanding roles in the agency. Beyond his professional accomplishments, he enjoys riding motorcycles and spending time as a ham radio operator.

Sheriff Chuck Havard had high praise for the captain’s daily impact:

“I am proud to work hand-in-hand with Captain Pomponio every day. He has one of the most stressful jobs at the Sheriff’s Office. His hours are long, and he works every second he’s here. He handles his duty with the highest level of integrity and professionalism. His loyalty, dedication, and work ethic to this office and to the citizens of Jasper County is unmatched. He has a humongous positive impact with our inmates. He’s the hardest worker at our facility and wears so many hats.”

Sheriff Havard went on to acknowledge the collective efforts of his team:

“Every employee at the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office is a valuable team member. Everyone’s job here is just as important as mine. I’m proud to lead such fine men and women.”
