Jasper Woman Arrested on Methamphetamine Charge

A 33-year-old Jasper woman was arrested Saturday following what authorities described as a consensual encounter with a deputy on a rural county road.

According to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Kaylor conducted the encounter on February 14, 2026, after observing a vehicle parked along County Road 296 in Jasper.

The woman, identified as Jamie Brown, was reportedly known to the deputy from previous encounters and was believed not to possess a valid driver’s license. During the interaction, Deputy Kaylor developed reasonable suspicion that Brown may have been in possession of illegal narcotics, the sheriff’s office said.

Authorities stated that Brown admitted to having narcotics and handed over a clear bag containing a white crystal-like substance, which deputies believe to be methamphetamine.

Brown was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1, greater than or equal to one gram but less than four grams — a third-degree felony under Texas law.

She was transported to the Jasper County Jail, where she was booked pending further legal proceedings.

Brown is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

Sheriff Chuck Havard stated that he and his staff remain committed to combating criminal activity in Jasper County.
