Jasper Man Seriously Injured in Motorcycle Accident Near Kirbyville Yesterday

KIRBYVILLE, TX-
Yesterday afternoon, July 20th, a Jasper couple, formerly of Kirbyville were riding motorcycles Southbound on U.S. Highway 96, near County Road 606 South of Kirbyville.
According to the report, at approximately 3:36 pm, the rider of a 2014 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling south when he inexplicably left the road to the right, lost control, and was thrown from the motorcycle.
The rider, identified as 60-year-old Richard Cofty of Jasper, was transported to Christus Southeast Texas St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment of possible-life-threatening injuries.
Cofty's wife, who was traveling with him on a separate bike was not injured. We do not have any additional information at this time.
