Jasper man arrested for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon

Wednesday evening at approximately 4:50 p.m, Jasper County Sheriff Sergeant Chris Wade was dispatched to the area of FM 2799 and FM 254 in the Bevelport Community for an assault in progress. The caller stated that there were people actively fighting in the roadway.
Sgt. Wade arrived and made contact with 48-year-old Jeremy Busby of Jasper. Busby would not cooperate and was detained during the investigation. Soon it was discovered that Busby was following a female down the road and was acting aggressively toward her. A family member of the female was driving by and witnessed this and took action to protect his family member. A physical altercation ensued and Busby exhibited a fixed blade knife during the commission of the assault against the other party.
Busby was placed under arrest and booked into the Jasper County Jail for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a second degree felony.
Busby is considered innocent unless proven guilty a court of law.
