Jasper man arrested after allegedly physically assaulting girlfriend after she dropped PlayStation controller

JASPER, TX-
Shortly after midnight on July 2nd, a Jasper man was arrested after admitting to a Jasper County Deputy that he physically assaulted his girlfriend after she dropped his PlayStation controller while he was playing a game.
At approximately 12:21 a.m., Deputy Gray responded to 1206 FM252 in Jasper for an Assault in progress. Upon arrival, Gray detained both the man and woman. According to the press release, the suspect, 21-year-old Westen Edward Bertrand of Jasper admitted that 'he hit his girlfriend in the arm, pushed her against the wall, threw her down and began kicking her because she dropped his Playstation controller while he was playing a video game'.
Gray stated that he could see redness on the victim's arm and thigh where Bertrand kicked her.
Bertrand was arrested and charged with Assault Causes Bodily Injury Family/Household Member (MA) and a $2,500 bond has been set.
As always , those arrested are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
