Jasper High School’s Student Council just brought home major bragging rights—earning the elite Sweepstakes Council honor from the Texas Association of Student Councils (TASC), putting them in the top tier of student leaders across the entire state.

Out of more than 1,200 schools in Texas, Jasper is one of just 238 to land this prestigious title. It’s not just a ribbon-and-certificate kind of thing either—this award recognizes schools that go all in on leadership, service, and student-driven change.

To snag the Sweepstakes distinction, councils must first be recognized as an Outstanding Student Council. Then, they have to go four for four—earning top honors in Drugs, Alcohol, Safety and Health (DASH), Pride and Patriotism, Energy and Environment, and submitting an impressive Community Service Report. It’s a heavy lift—and the Bulldogs nailed it.

“These kids aren’t just organizing pep rallies,” said a proud JHS staff member. “They’re launching service projects, leading awareness campaigns, and creating a school culture where everyone feels seen and supported.”

TASC is no small group—it’s the largest state student council organization in the U.S., and it’s backed by the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals. Its mission is all about building student leaders who champion democracy, take initiative, and shape their schools into places where students and staff want to be.

This recognition marks Jasper High School as a standout example of what student leadership, service, and school spirit can achieve when students take the lead.
