Our new Law Enforcement boat unveiling is this Thursday, September 18th, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Umphrey Pavillion. There will be a short dedication ceremony in honor of Deputy Sheriff Edward Raymond Claude, who gave his life in the line of duty serving Jasper County. We hope everyone will join us for links and soft drinks and boat rides. It’s going to be a great time of fellowship. I hope to see you all there.
On September 8th, 2025, a Jasper County Sheriff's deputy conducted a traffic stop for Fail to Yield Right of Way. The deputy smelled what he knew to be synthetic marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Consent to search was granted and the search revealed synthetic marijuana. The driver and sole occupant, Hussain Syed, 27, of Jasper was arrested for Possession of Dangerous Drugs (Class A Misdemeanor) and transported to the Jasper County Jail.
On September 10th, 2025, a Jasper County Sheriff’s deputy was involved in a minor traffic collision in north Jasper County. The deputy and the driver of a pick-up were not injured and both vehicles sustained minor damage. DPS arrived on scene and arrested the driver of the pick-up for DWI-3rd and transported him to the Jasper County Jail. We are thankful no one was injured.
On September 11th, 2025, the Jasper County Sheriff's Office took a “Missing Person” report in Buna for a missing woman identified as Amanda Glover, 39, of Buna. She was last seen on the evening of September 8th, 2025. On September 12th, 2025, Ms. Glover contacted her family. She has been located and is safe. We appreciate all the assistance from the community.
On September 12th, 2025, Deputy Noel was dispatched to a call regarding a female walking down the road and acting erratically. Upon his arrival in the area, Deputy Noel observed the female, identified as Tori Clines, 34, of Kirbyville walking towards Hwy 96. Deputy Noel made contact with Clines who appeared to be under the influence of a narcotic. She was very uncooperative and resisted arrest for a short time before being detained in handcuffs. Clines was booked in the Jasper County Jail on charges of Harassment of a Public Servant (3rd Degree Felony), Resisting Arrest (Class A Misdemeanor), and Public Intoxication (Class C Misdemeanor).
Jasper County welcomes K9 Rhino to our team. K9 Rhino took K9 Leroy’s place earlier this year after K9 Leroy was forced to retire due to medical issues. K9 Rhino, a 4-year-old German Shepherd, is trained in narcotic detection and apprehension, tracking, and handler protection. K9 Rhino was recently sent on his first deployment in Jasper County and made his first narcotics find assisting Jasper PD.
The men and women of the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office regretfully mourn the death this morning of a Texas DPS Trooper, who tragically passed away in a traffic crash last night in San Jacinto County. The trooper was on his way to assist with a call when the crash occurred. Our prayers go out to the trooper’s family.
No matter what tragedies our great nation has faced over the years, we still live in the greatest country in the world. We will never forget September 11th and all the innocent lives that were taken on that day 24 years ago nor will we forget Charlie Kirk, a man who stood for truth and peaceful debate, whose life was taken way too soon this past week.
As always, it is a great privilege and honor to be the Sheriff of Jasper County.
Respectfully,
Chuck Havard
Jasper County Sheriff
