Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard
Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard

This morning, a large shipment of food was delivered to the jail. Our trustees have been busy this morning unloading and organizing the food. I encourage every citizen in Jasper County to come to the Sheriff’s Office and tour our facility. Our trustees do an excellent job and save the taxpayers a ton of money every day.

On Tuesday, June 17, 2025, I attended the East Texas Peace Officers Association meeting today.  New officers were voted in.  I’d like to congratulate Sheriff Byron Lyons for being named President of the Association for 2025-2026.  I was Sergeant at Arms for the Association this year and was moved up to Parliamentarian for the upcoming year. I look forward to working with the men and women of this Association and building relationships to help benefit Jasper County.

On June 17, 2025, Guy Stanley III, 59, of Buna, Texas, turned himself in on a warrant for Indecency with a Child – Second Degree Felony. This warrant stemmed from an investigation that began on May 2nd, 2025, with an outcry of a 15-year-old stating she had been sexually assaulted.  Mr. Stanley turned himself into the Jasper County Jail at 4:30 a.m. and bonded out at 4:15 p.m. that evening.

On June 18th, 2025, Mr. Rodney Norsworthy, Vice-President of the Jasper Hospital District, presented 18 AED devices to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office.  These devices will go in each patrol vehicle and each deputy has already been trained in proper usage. These devices enable offices to provide immediate lifesaving assistance to someone in need. We thank them for their generous donation of these devices.

On June 19th, 2025, several of our officers and I attended the Juneteenth celebration in the Dixie Community at the CFHPA Hall. There was an awesome turnout and the fellowship was even better. It was great seeing families and our community celebrating this special day.

On June 20th, 2025, Justin Keith Colley, 38, of Village Mills, committed aggravated robbery when he pulled a gun on a car salesman and stole a Ford Mustang from Silsbee Ford.  Law enforcement was notified and an attempt to locate was broadcasted.  An hour later, Deputy Spivey was patrolling on Highway 96 south of Buna and spotted the vehicle.  He ran the license plate and discovered the plate returned to a different vehicle.  Deputy Spivey called for backup and a traffic stop was made north of Buna.  Charges in Jasper County are pending.

On June 20, 2025, deputies were dispatched to the Roganville Baptist Church in reference to a burglary.  Deputies spoke with members of the church who stated their Chapel, Fellowship Hall and storage units had been burglarized and ransacked.  Numerous items were damaged and stolen from all the buildings on the property. This case is ongoing and we are following up with some leads that we currently have.  If you have any information regarding this case, please contact the Sheriff’s Office.

On June 21st, 2025, Jasper County Deputies were dispatched to a disturbance in Buna where someone was damaging property with a vehicle.  The suspect left the scene driving northbound on Hwy 96.  A deputy conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle driven by the suspect, Patrick Riecke, 63, of Buna.  Riecke had a warrant and was wanted by Jasper County for Revocation of Probation on an original charge of Deadly Conduct.  He was placed in custody and booked into the Jasper County Jail for the warrant.  The case is ongoing and more charges are expected.

On June 23rd, 2025, Julie Alexander, representing Smurfit Westrock, presented a generous $5,000 donation to me to help fund a much-needed patrol vehicle for the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office.  This act of kindness reflects a long-standing partnership between Smurfit Westrock and local law enforcement – a relationship built on mutual respect and a shared commitment to the safety of our community.

On June 23, 2025, an unknown male stole a weed trimmer and blower from Tractor Supply in Buna. We have some leads and we will do everything we can to find this man.

On June 24th, 2025, at approximately 5:00 am, Kelley Renee Presley surrendered to the Jasper County Jail on a charge of Injury to a Child – State Jail Felony. The warrant stemmed from an incident on May 21, 2025, in the Call area where she allegedly attacked a 13-year-old juvenile.

Please note that all persons listed in this report are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

We appreciate the continued support throughout our county for your Sherrif’s Office. I am extremely proud of the employees of JCSO. We have a long way to go but we are progressing at a steady rate. I am blessed to be the Sheriff of Jasper County and it is an extreme honor serving the people of this county.  As always, call us if you need us.

Respectfully,

Chuck Havard

Jasper County Sheriff
