Jasper County Sheriff’s Report
6-03-2025
Earlier this week, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office had the opportunity to lead the sendoff for the Brookeland Lady Wildcats as they traveled to Austin to play in the Softball State Championship. Even though they did not win the championship, they played their hearts out. We couldn’t be more proud of the way they represented us. We also want to congratulate the Brookeland Boys High School Baseball team on making it to the state semifinals. They played a heck of a series.

On May 30th, 2025, I, along with some of our employees, attended a Law Enforcement Luncheon hosted by Newton County Sheriff Colton Havard at the Newton Civic Center. There was a great turnout of law enforcement and elected officials from across our region. It was a great opportunity to collaborate with the law-enforcement officers and build working relationships. Good partnerships amongst Law Enforcement allows you to collectively use leverage to more effectively address public safety issues.

On June 2nd, 2025, Kenneth Ray Walker, 45, of Jasper, and Joseph Matthew Layton, 59, also of Jasper, were charged with Burglary of a Building (State Jail Felony) and taken to the Jasper County Jail. I can’t say enough how much we appreciate the public’s help in locating criminals. The tips we get from concerned citizens have made a huge difference in our county. Please inform us of any potential criminal activity that you have witnessed. It’s very important if you see something, say something. As always, it is an honor to be the Sheriff of Jasper County. Please don’t hesitate to call us if you need us.
Respectfully,
Chuck Havard
