Jasper County Sheriff’s Report - 12/30/2025

This is my last report of 2025. What a year it has been! I’ve learned so much, met so many amazing people, and I look forward to working with everyone in 2026. We have made some tremendous gains here in the county but still have a long way to go. I am excited to see what the new year will bring.

I’d like to give a big shout out to the members of the Beech Grove Fire Department, Patrick’s Wrecker Service and JCSO Chaplain Tommy Cunningham for lunch, snacks and gifts for some of our employees on Christmas Eve. These gestures were incredibly kind, and our employees were truly appreciative of the support from our community.

On Tuesday, December 23, 2025, Deputy Matt Harrell with the Jasper County Sheriff's Office, responded to Smurfit Westrock in Evadale in reference to a stolen vehicle. The vehicle, owned by Enterprise Rental, had been reported stolen through the Beaumont Police Department. Deputy Harrell began the process of recovering the vehicle when he identified Dewayne Davis Jr., 25 of Spring. Davis Jr. had been in possession of the vehicle for quite some time. Enterprise had followed all requirements to have the vehicle returned by Davis Jr., but he had refused. Based on this, Davis Jr. was arrested by Deputy Harrell for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle - SJF - and transported to the Jasper County Jail.

On December 23rd, 2025, at approximately 6:09 pm, Jasper County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to the 1300 block of County Road 89 in reference to an assault. The investigation showed that the suspect, Ethan Hebert, 19, of Jasper, had assaulted his girlfriend and caused bodily injury. During the incident, Hebert also kept the victim from calling 911 for assistance and busted a window out of a vehicle. Based on this, Hebert was arrested and charged with Assault Family Violence - A Misdemeanor, Interference with Call for Emergency Assistance - A Misdemeanor, and Criminal Mischief - B Misdemeanor. Hebert was transported to the Jasper County Jail.

On December 26th, 2025, at 10:59 a.m., Jasper County Deputy Brian Gray, initiated a pursuit of a motorcycle with no license plate, northbound on Hwy 96 from Jasper. During the pursuit, speeds exceeded 130 mph. As the pursuit neared Sabine County, the pursuit was terminated due to safety concerns. A few moments later, the Pineland Police Department began pursuing the same individual southbound, back into Jasper County. Units from Jasper County joined back in as well as Texas Parks and Wildlife. As the motorcycle tried to overtake the game warden, he lost control and sideswiped the TPWD truck and crashed. The driver was taken into custody and identified as George Frederick Park, 37, of Louisiana. Park was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and a pistol. Park was subsequently charged with Evading Arrest Detention Motor Vehicle - State Jail Felony, Possession of a Controlled Substance PG1 <1G - State Jail Felony, and Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon - Misdemeanor A. Park was transported to the Jasper County Jail. None of the officers were injured and the suspect only sustained minor injuries.

On December 28th, 2025, at approximately 6 p.m., I received information regarding illegal contraband being brought into the Jasper County Jail. An investigation was immediately initiated and a cellular device (cell phone) was located inside the secure area of our jail. The investigation revealed that Amanda Finch, 39, of Kirbyville, provided multiple cell phones on several occasions to inmates in our custody. As per the Texas Penal Code, 38.11, it is a Felony to smuggle prohibited items into a correctional facility. On December 29th, 2025, at approximately 3:25 p.m., Jasper County Sheriff’s Office CID Investigators arrested Finch who was employed by Southern Health Partners. She was a contract nurse at the Jasper County Jail. Finch is currently in the Jasper County Jail and charged with Prohibited Item in a Correctional Facility – 3rd Degree Felony. She is innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. I want to commend our investigators for moving at warp speed and placing this individual in our jail.

Anytime someone jeopardizes the safety and security of our facility, we will deal with them in a quick and swift manner. Additionally, I would like to thank the Jasper PD Safe Streets Division, Southeast Texas Violent Crime Task Force, for their assistance.

Everyone listed in this report is innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

We are here for you and your families, 24/7. It is a privilege and honor representing the people of this county.

Respectfully,

Chuck Havard

Jasper County Sheriff
