Today, I’d like to take a moment to thank all our military veterans for their service in all branches of the US Armed Forces. It was an honor to attend the 59th annual Veteran’s Day program at Kirbyville High School this morning. These men and women answered the call of duty, often putting themselves in harm’s way to protect our freedoms and uphold the values we hold dear. Their service reminds us that liberty is never free – it is earned through commitment, resilience, and selflessness. We thank you for the sacrifices you have made to make this the greatest country in the world.
I’d like to once again thank our Jasper County Commissioners and our County Judge for what they do for our county. The decisions they make in Commissioner’s Court greatly affects how efficiently our county runs. All of our Commissioners and our County Judge makes public safety a top priority and we appreciate their commitment and dedication to our office and the citizens of our county.
On November 4th, 2025, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a Sexual Assault which occurred in the north end of Jasper County. Upon arrival, JCSO Investigators discovered the victim had extensive injuries that were consistent with a violent assault. After investigators gathered evidence and conducted interviews, an arrest warrant for Sexual Assault (Felony 2) was issued for Samuel Jason Jones, 53, of Jasper. He was arrested at his residence and transported to the Jasper County Jail. The investigation is ongoing.
On November 5th, 2025, a Motion to Revoke Probation warrant was issued out of Jasper County for Jerrell Wayne Stanley, 54, of Buna. Deputies immediately began searching for him. Phone contact was made and he was ordered to report to the Jasper County Jail. He failed to do so. On November 7th, 2025, Stanley surrendered to me at the Buna Sub-Courthouse. He was brought into custody without incident and transported to the Jasper County Jail.
On November 6th, 2025, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Buna Elementary School in reference to a five-year-old student who had injuries believed to be from abuse. Investigators arrived and were able to confirm the injuries were related to physical abuse. During the investigation, Jasper County Investigators interviewed the father, Chevy Wayne Luquette, 30, of Buna. A warrant was issued that evening for Injury to a Child-Reckless Bodily Injury (State Jail Felony). Child Protective Services assisted with the investigation and took necessary measures for the child’s safety.
On November 8th, 2025, Jasper County showed up! The Jasper County Sheriff’s Association Blue Santa “Fill the Boat” event was a great success at Walmart in Jasper. We received a wide variety of toys from stuffed animals to police cars. We were also able to collect over $1,000.00 that will be used to purchase more toys for the kids of Jasper County for Christmas. I would like to sincerely thank the hand working men and women of our county and region who supported this event. It’s very humbling when someone approaches you and tells you they rearranged their weekly grocery budget to help us provide toys to kids. We greatly appreciate it and are grateful beyond words. If you are in need of the Blue Santa Program, please come by the Sheriff’s Office to pick up an application. They are due December 2nd, 2025.
On November 8th, 2025, JCSO received a call regarding a man that had fell from a deer stand off of CR 304. The Jasper County sheriff’s Office, Tri-Community Fire Department, Texas Game Wardens, and Allegiance EMS were on scene. First responders did an excellent job at retrieving the man and getting him the immediate medical attention that he needed. We are praying for a full recovery Jeff.
On November 8th, 2025, three Jasper County Sheriff’s deputies were close to Umphrey Pavilion on Lake Sam Rayburn when a possible drowning was reported. Upon arrival, deputies joined a good Samaritan and continued CPR until first responders arrived. Although life-saving measures continued with first responders, they were unable to revive the victim. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of this gentleman during this very difficult time.
Everyone listed in this report is innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
The burn ban is back in effect and we ask that you comply with this order. Our first responders need all the rest they can get. We appreciate your cooperation.
It is a privilege and honor to be the Sheriff of Jasper County. As always, call us if you need us.
Respectfully,
Chuck Havard
