Jasper County Sheriff’s Report - 01/13/2026

This past week, we celebrated National Law-Enforcement Appreciation Day. We are very thankful for the sacrifices and dedication of our own employees who are making Jasper County safe. We would like to thank Rayburn Realty and Jasper Java for their generosity. Rayburn Realty provided our employees with their own personalized cups for Law Enforcement Appreciation Day and Jasper Java provided our deputies with a coupon to fill em’ up. We are appreciative of their continued support of JCSO.

I had a great afternoon out in the community on Saturday. I was honored to attend the 80th surprise birthday party for Mr. Bobby Johnson at the Buna United Pentecostal Church in Buna. Bobby is a staunch supporter of JCSO and we appreciate his support. Happy Birthday Bobby!!! After the party, I traveled to Kirbyville and was able to stop by the Palace Theater before the Country Music show and visit with a lot of people. If you’ve never been to a country music show at the theater, be sure to attend one on the second Saturday of each month. Thank you to Ms. Vondol Bailey and all the volunteers. The theater is 100 years old this year and it’s as neat as the Grand Ole Opry!! I had a good day visiting with the people that employ me and every member of JCSO. It’s a privilege serving the people of Jasper County.

Tim Miller, the founder of Texas Equusearch visited the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office this past week. Every single time I have reached out to his organization, he generally has boots on the ground in Jasper County within three hours. Tim and I have been friends for a very long time and he always provides significant assistance to us. Our partnership is stronger than ever and we are committed to working with Tim and his staff to bring EVERY resource we can to the citizens of Jasper County to bring closure to families and justice to violators. I owe Tim and his staff a great deal of gratitude for always stepping up and coming to the aide of the citizens of Jasper County and this Sheriff’s Office in a time of need.

On Monday, January 5th, 2026, at approximately 8:30 P.M., the Jasper County Sheriff's Office received information from the Harris County Sheriff's Office of a wanted individual at 425 Gandy in Buna, Texas. Harris County advised they had issued a Felony Theft warrant for Amanda Renee Wilson, 43, of Buna, for her involvement with a stolen Ford Bronco that had been recovered by the Jasper County Sheriff's Office at 425 Gandy last week. At approximately 10:00 P.M., Deputy Roy located Wilson at her residence and placed her under arrest after confirming the warrant for Felony Theft >=$30,000.00 less than $150,000.00 with no bond out of Harris County District 4936. Wilson was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

On January 6th, 2026, at approximately 9:30 a.m., Deputy Harrell observed a person he knew to be Courtney Lisenby, 35, of Silsbee, walking through yards along US 96 just north of Evadale. Deputy Harrell asked dispatch to check her for warrants as he made a consensual stop. Lisenby was found to have 3 felony warrants out of Hardin County. A search incident to arrest yielded drug paraphernalia on her person. Courtney was transported to the Jasper County Jail on warrants for Failure to Appear Evading arrest with previous conviction- State Jail Felony, Failure to Appear Tamper/Fabricate evidence- Felony 3, and Failure to Appear poss. CS PG1/2 <1g- State Jail Felony. She was also cited for the drug paraphernalia found on the search incident to her arrest.

On January 7th, 2026, at approximately 8:30 AM, Jasper County CID Investigators were following up on a burglary that occurred several months ago in Cougar Country. CID Investigators were interviewing a potential suspect, Randal Jeans, 41, of Buna, and discovered that he was wanted on a Parole Warrant issued by TDCJ. He was arrested and transported to Jasper County Jail.

On the evening of January 7th, 2026, Jasper County Deputies and Investigators recovered a truck stolen from STI in Buna after receiving information about a vehicle possibly involved in the theft. During the investigation, a tip was given on the possible location of the stolen truck. This location was searched and the vehicle was located in a wooded area in Cougar Country. The truck was towed and available for release back to STI. The case is still under active investigation. We want to thank our citizens in the community for always giving us information to help us with these cases. We’re not dealing with rocket scientists, I’m sure we will make an arrest/s soon.

On January 8th, 2026, JCSO Sergeant Chris Wade arrested Jimmy Cauley, 62, of Jasper, for failure to comply with registration requirements for a Sex Offender- 2nd Degree Felony. Cauley was found to be out of compliance and had not registered as required by state law. Cauley was booked into Jasper County Jail. If any sex offender in Jasper County is deemed to be out of compliance, they will immediately be arrested and placed in our jail.

On January 10th, 2026, at approximately 7:41 am, Deputy Gray responded to the 700 block of CR 337 for a possible Burglary in progress. Contact was made with Ashley Sawyer Wales, 42, of Buna, and another male subject. Consent to search the vehicle was given by the male subject (owner of vehicle). A crystal-like substance known to be Methamphetamines was located inside the vehicle. Wales confirmed the Methamphetamines belonged to her. Wales was placed under arrest for Possession of Controlled Substance PG1>1g (State Jail Felony) and transported to Jasper County Jail.

A woman wanted on several charges in Jasper County is in the Angelina County Jail. Amber Lynn Mock, 35, of Jasper, was caught January 10th, 2026, in Angelina County in a stolen van from a church burglary in Tyler County. She was taken into custody at 5:30 a.m. and will be extradited to Jasper County as quickly as possible, where she will face multiple charges for Burglary and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

On January 12th, 2026, Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputies along with first responders and other emergency officials provided support on a fatality crash on State Highway 62 at County Road # 784, approximately 2 miles south of Buna. Highway 62 remained open; however, County Road 784 was not passable for some time. Our prayers go out to the family of the deceased.

On January 12th, 2026, at approximately 12:40 p.m., I was notified of a possible animal neglect case (livestock) on County Road # 406 in Kirbyville. Deputies were immediately deployed to the area. Over the last several days, deputies were deployed to this same location regarding this animal. Our deputies made contact with the owner of the livestock and explained the law to him and his responsibilities as an animal owner. The man refused to cooperate, even becoming irate and rude to our deputies. The owner of the animal was identified as Donald Lewis, 82, of Kirbyville. Once the deputies left the residence, to solicit cooperation and care for the animal, one of our deputies purchased a bag of feed (with his own money) to try and nourish the animal back to good health until the owner could provide veterinarian care. Our deputies went way beyond what is expected of them in an attempt to help the owner and the animal. After yet another complaint, and after no further attempts to care for the animal were made by the owner, our deputies placed the man under arrest for Cruelty to a Livestock Animal-(MA) and transported him to the Jasper County Jail. After consultation with a veterinarian this afternoon, the Jasper County Livestock Officer euthanized the animal. It’s unfortunate that this gentleman would not cooperate or take his responsibilities as a livestock owner seriously. We bent over backwards trying to help him and he flatly refused to comply.

Everyone listed in this report is innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

We are here for you and your families, 24/7.  It is a privilege and honor representing the people of this county.

Respectfully,

Chuck Havard

Jasper County Sheriff
