JASPER COUNTY, Texas — Sheriff Chuck Havard has announced the addition of five new patrol deputies to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, each bringing with them a unique background of service, leadership, and community commitment. The deputies are set to graduate from the Angelina College Police Academy in Jasper on October 2, 2025, and will officially begin their duties the following day.
“These gentlemen have worked extremely hard to accomplish their goal of becoming Jasper County deputies,” Sheriff Havard said. “We handpicked each of them to attend the academy shortly after I took office, and they’ve proven to be top-notch professionals. With their wide-ranging experience and dedication, they will do an extraordinary job for our county.”
Meet the New Deputies
Clayton Daigle
A proud Jasper County native, Clayton Daigle has been a small business owner since his high school days at Buna ISD. His professional background includes four years in the oil and gas industry as a valve technician and one year as an industrial surveyor. Inspired by the opportunity to train close to home, Daigle decided to pursue his lifelong dream of law enforcement when the Angelina College Police Academy opened in Jasper. “I love my community,” he said, “and I look forward to giving back by serving the people of Jasper County.”

Daniel Hoke
An Evadale ISD graduate from the class of 2002, Daniel Hoke has spent nearly two decades working at the Evadale paper mill. His experience spans multiple departments, from shipping and transportation to his current role in CQC quality and claims. Hoke has also been an active member of the Evadale Volunteer Fire Department since 2008. Married to his wife Kelli for 19 years, the couple are raising two daughters, Karlie and Katelynn. Hoke says he is eager to “serve the citizens of Jasper County with integrity.”

Vern Kaylor
A Jasper High School graduate and lifelong member of the community, Vern Kaylor is well known in the area for his business, Kaylor’s Horseshoeing, which he has successfully operated for nearly 30 years. In 2014, he founded Jasper’s “Bibles & Bulls” ministry, combining his passion for rodeo and faith to mentor local youth. Kaylor, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, said he is “honored for the opportunity to protect and serve the citizens of Jasper County.”

Bradley Morgan
Retired educator and coach Bradley Morgan brings 36 years of public education experience to his new role in law enforcement. He retired from Buna ISD in August 2021 after serving 22 years as head football coach and 20 years as athletic director. A Lamar University graduate with deep family roots in Jasper County, Morgan is married with three children and four grandchildren. He described his new career path as “an exciting chance to continue serving the community I’ve always called home.”

Dr. Tony Tipton
After a distinguished 30-year career in public education, Dr. Tony Tipton retired in October 2024 as Superintendent of Lumberton ISD. Over the years, he worked as a teacher, coach, principal, and administrator, ultimately earning his Doctorate in Educational Administration from Texas A&M–Commerce in 2015. Dr. Tipton said he is “honored to join the Sheriff’s Office” and looks forward to applying his leadership skills to public safety.

Sheriff’s Final Word
Sheriff Havard commended the group, noting their strong track records in previous careers and deep ties to the community. “All five men have been very successful in their fields, and now they’re bringing that same dedication to law enforcement. I congratulate them and look forward to working alongside each of these outstanding deputies.”
The new deputies will be sworn in and begin active duty on October 3, 2025.
