The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in identifying three suspects involved in an attempted burglary at a vape shop in Buna on Sunday night.
On June 29, 2025, at approximately 11:05 p.m., sheriff’s deputies responded to an alarm at 104 Cougar Drive. Upon arrival, deputies and investigators reviewed surveillance video showing three individuals approaching the building. One suspect was observed kicking the door open, with two suspects entering the vape shop before quickly fleeing when an audible alarm was triggered.
No items were reported stolen, but deputies recovered a sandal believed to belong to one of the suspects about 10 feet behind the building.
In a statement, Sheriff Chuck Havard stressed the serious risks of such break-ins:
“Not only do we want to bring these people to justice for the burglary, we also want to locate them so we can let them know that when you kick in doors to businesses or residences, people of Jasper County have every right to use force, including deadly force, to protect their property, family, or themselves,” Havard said.
Havard noted that investigators believe the suspects may be young and possibly lack proper guidance, warning that future attempts could end with tragic consequences.
Anyone with information about the suspects’ identities is asked to contact the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office at 409-384-5417 or reach out directly to Sheriff Havard at 409-289-5966.
