JASPER COUNTY, Texas — Sheriff Chuck Havard announced that felony warrants have been issued for a Jasper woman investigators believe is responsible for a series of burglaries targeting car washes and standalone ice machines across Jasper and Brookeland in recent weeks.
Investigators with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation after multiple businesses reported break-ins and the theft of large amounts of currency. Surveillance video recovered from one of the burglaries showed a suspect using a cordless grinder to cut the locking mechanism off a door before entering the building.
DPS Trooper Traffic Stop Leads to Break in the Case
During the ongoing investigation, a Texas DPS Trooper conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the Brookeland area. The driver — who was the sole occupant — was taken into custody on unrelated charges. During the routine inventory of the vehicle before impound, the Trooper located numerous items believed to have been stolen in the recent burglaries.
The Trooper contacted Investigator Lampman, who advised him to place an investigative hold on the truck.
Search Warrant Executed – Stolen Property Recovered
On December 1, 2025, Investigators Lampman, Starkie, and Noel interviewed the driver, who denied involvement in the burglaries. A search warrant was then obtained for the vehicle and executed the same day.
Inside the truck, investigators recovered:
Numerous items reported stolen in the burglaries
A small amount of narcotics
Keys to lock boxes at one of the car washes
The grinder used to cut the locks
Boots matching those worn by the suspect in the video
A distinctive red glove seen in the surveillance footage
A coin dispenser taken from one of the ice machines
The stolen property was returned to its rightful owner.
On December 2, 2025, Investigator Starkie obtained four State Jail Felony warrants for:
Burglary of a Building
Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 1
The suspect, identified as Amber Lynn Mock, 34, of Jasper, is not in custody and is currently considered a fugitive from justice.
Sheriff Chuck Havard expressed appreciation for the teamwork that led to the identification of the suspect:
“I would like to thank our investigators and JPD investigators for their hard work on this case and the DPS Trooper for his awareness and vigilance. Our partnerships with other law-enforcement agencies are vital to public safety. When agencies work together as a TEAM, results like this happen.”
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Amber Lynn Mock is urged to contact the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office at (409) 384-5417.
