JASPER, Texas — With more than 1,300 residences still without electricity across north Jasper County and north Newton County, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office has opened its doors to residents in need of warmth as power restoration efforts continue.
According to Chuck Havard, crews with Jasper-Newton Electric Cooperative (JNEC) remain actively in the field, working through challenging conditions to restore service to affected areas.
“JNEC employees are diligently out in the elements trying to get power restored,” Havard said.
In the meantime, Sheriff Havard announced that the Sheriff’s Office, located at 101 Burch Street in Jasper, has power and heat available and is welcoming residents who are without electricity and need a warm place to go.
“Please feel free to come by and get warm if you’re without electricity,” Havard said.
Additionally, American Red Cross support has been established at the Nehemiah Family Life Center, located at 640 Pollard Street in Jasper, where the facility is open to serve the community and surrounding areas. Officials say the center will remain open until its services are no longer needed.
Local authorities urge residents to exercise caution during the outages, limit unnecessary travel, and allow utility crews the space needed to safely and efficiently complete repairs.
Officials say updates will continue to be shared as restoration progresses. Residents are encouraged to monitor official announcements from Jasper-Newton Electric Cooperative and local emergency management agencies for the latest information.
