JASPER, Texas — The Jasper County Jail has officially passed its annual inspection by the Texas Commission on Jail Standards, confirming the facility remains in full compliance with state law and all required operational standards.
The inspection, conducted yesterday morning, included a thorough audit of jail records, policies, training procedures, and interviews with both staff and inmates. Following the extensive review, the Texas Jail Commission deemed the facility compliant — a major affirmation of the Sheriff’s Office’s continued focus on safety and accountability.
“One of the primary duties of a Texas Sheriff is to ensure the county jail is always compliant with state regulations,” said Sheriff Chuck Havard. “This is a responsibility I take very seriously. We can’t afford to unnecessarily subject Jasper County citizens to lawsuits or civil litigation. We have to take every measure possible to keep our jail operational and in compliance with state laws and jail rules.”
Sheriff Havard expressed appreciation to Jail Inspector Mike Garrett and his leadership team for their guidance and suggestions during the inspection process, adding that the office will implement additional procedures to continue improving the facility.
He also commended the jail’s employees for their dedication and professionalism.
“Without the hard work and dedication of our employees, this successful audit would not have been possible,” Havard said. “The men and women of our jail staff work tirelessly to ensure we have one of the cleanest, most efficient, and safest jails in the state. I want to commend them and their families for the sacrifices they make on behalf of our Sheriff’s Office and the people of Jasper County.”
The Jasper County Jail remains fully certified and in good standing under Texas Jail Standards.
