Jasper, TX On April 24 the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a complainant who stated that she had sold a Harley Davidson motorcycle to 20-year-old Billy Minter Jr. of Jasper yesterday in Brookshire Brothers parking lot in Buna. The complainant stated that she was paid with a business check and the check came back fraudulent.
Jasper County Investigator, Karli Cherry was familiar with the business owner and soon discovered that Minter was an employee of that business. It was discovered that Minter had taken checks that were on a closed account without permission and wrote a check to purchase the motorcycle.
The motorcycle was recovered and returned to the owner and Minter was arrested and taken to the Jasper County jail and charged with Theft of Property, a State Jail Felony.
Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard wants the public to know that Minter is considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
Havard and his staff are committed to combating criminal activity in Jasper County.
