Jasper County Sheriff’s Office deputies assisted the United States Marshals Service on Wednesday in the arrest of a North Carolina fugitive wanted for a felony theft offense.
Authorities apprehended Colby Martin, 23, at a residence on County Road 784 in Buna. The arrest was executed without incident as deputies and federal marshals worked in coordination to locate and detain the suspect.

Martin was wanted on a probation violation warrant for Felony 1 Theft issued out of North Carolina. Following his arrest, he was transported to the Jasper County Jail, where he was booked and remains in custody pending further legal proceedings.
As with all criminal cases, Martin is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
Sheriff Chuck Havard praised the collaboration between local and federal law enforcement agencies and reaffirmed his department’s commitment to public safety.
“We’re proud to work alongside our federal partners in locating and removing individuals wanted for serious offenses,” said Havard. “Our deputies remain dedicated to protecting the citizens of Jasper County and ensuring that fugitives are brought to justice.”
The case is now under the jurisdiction of the appropriate authorities for extradition or further prosecution.
