Jasper County Commissioners Court Wraps Up Year-End Business in December 10 Special Session

JASPER COUNTY, Texas — December 10, 2025
The Jasper County Commissioners Court gathered for a Special Session on Wednesday, tackling a full slate of end-of-year items ranging from public safety board appointments to school district recognitions.
SART Report Presented
Acting Criminal District Attorney John Burt opened the meeting with the biannual report from the Jasper/Newton Counties Sexual Assault Response Team (SART). The Court accepted the report as presented.
Donation to Sheriff’s Office Accepted
Chief Deputy Larry Pulliam, Jr. of the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office requested approval to accept a $100 donation from Ms. Kay Gallegos.
The Court expressed appreciation for the contribution and approved allocating the funds to the Sheriff’s Office vehicle capital outlay line item.
Kirbyville Women’s Civic Club Recognized
Commissioners approved a resolution honoring the Women’s Civic Club of Kirbyville as the organization celebrates its 90th anniversary, recognizing its long-standing service to the community.
School Board Recognition Month
The Court also approved resolutions designating January 2026 as School Board Recognition Month, extending thanks to board members from Brookeland, Buna, Evadale, Jasper, and Kirbyville ISDs for their commitment to preparing area youth for future opportunities.
Emergency Services District Appointments
Turning to emergency services, the Court reappointed the current Emergency Services District (ESD) Commissioners for another term.
Commissioners Kevin Holloway and Seth Martindale announced that Sam Job, of ESD #4, intends to retire at the end of 2025. They recommended Jeremy Duke of the Rayburn Country area to fill the seat starting in January.
In ESD #3 (Kirbyville area), Officer Ashley Arce and Ken Green have stepped down. Commissioner Willie Stark recommended Lee Williamson and Don Warden to fill the vacancies.
The Court thanked the outgoing board members for their service and appointed the recommended replacements.
Jasper CAD Board Ballots Cast
The Court then considered how to cast Jasper County’s ballots for the Jasper County Appraisal District Board of Directors. After discussion, Commissioners voted to support Keith Stephens of Jasper for a second term representing the county. Remaining ballots were divided among the Buna, Kirbyville, and Evadale ISDs to ensure those districts maintain representation.
2026 Schedules Set
Commissioners approved the 2026 meeting schedule for the Commissioners Court along with the county’s holiday schedule.
County Treasurer’s Report
To close out the session, County Treasurer Rene’ Ellis presented the amended October 2025 finance report, which was reviewed and approved.
