During a special called meeting on Monday, July 28, the Jasper City Council unanimously approved a full restructuring of the Jasper Economic Development Corporation (JEDCO) board, following recent discussions about future goals and membership.
Councilwoman Angel McCroskey introduced a motion to retain three current JEDCO board members—Ronnie Sample, Jenn Miranda, and LeQuin Hilderbrand—and to allow each council member to appoint three individuals, creating an 18-member board. The motion was seconded by Councilwoman Mamie Horn and passed unanimously.
The newly named JEDCO appointees include:
Ray Charles Lewis
Bill Grant
Maureen Bidwell
Tressy Morgan
Charles Warren
Tena Wright
Terrya Norsworthy
Keith Scott
Derek Seastrunk
Tamala Parks
Jessica Larkin
Pam McDonough
Bill Snelson
Nicole Colvin
Chris Lanier
Notably, one of the new appointees has previously expressed concerns about JEDCO’s structure through public channels—offering a unique perspective to the restructured board moving forward.
The board will convene in the near future to resume their focus on local economic development and revitalization efforts.
The council also addressed a second agenda item concerning a proposed amendment to the city’s contract with Kendig Keast Collaborative, the firm overseeing Jasper’s ongoing zoning ordinance project. The amendment specifically sought to modify the project timeline outlined in Section 5.2 of the agreement.
Councilwoman McCroskey made a motion to table the discussion, which was seconded and approved unanimously. The item will be brought back for consideration at a future meeting.
