Today’s forecast calls for sunny to partly cloudy skies with humid conditions persisting across the area. A thunderstorm could pop up in parts of the region this afternoon as daytime heating increases.

According to the National Weather Service Lake Charles, hot and muggy weather will continue through at least Thursday, with high temperatures climbing into the lower to mid-90s and heat index values topping 100 degrees at times.

Residents are reminded to take heat safety precautions, including staying hydrated, limiting time outdoors, and taking breaks in air-conditioned spaces if possible.

Additionally, the NWS advises being aware of the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Symptoms like dizziness, nausea, or confusion should never be ignored — seek medical care immediately if needed.
