BEECH GROVE, Texas — At approximately 1:42 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, Beech Grove Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a grass fire on FM 1747, just south of County Road 160.
Firefighters arrived to find flames moving quickly through tall grass, pushed by low humidity and a north wind. Crews were able to stop forward progression within about 15 minutes.
According to BGVFD, the blaze originated from a controlled debris fire that was ignited yesterday, but due to today’s dry conditions, it escaped containment.
Although there is no burn ban currently in effect, conditions remain very dry, and authorities are strongly discouraging outdoor burning until the area receives significant rainfall.
“We are still in a rainfall deficit and Level 1 drought,” the department noted. “Minimal rain chances are forecast over the next seven days, with high pressure building into the region.”
BGVFD responded with:
Brush Truck B11
Brush Truck B12
Six firefighters
No injuries were reported, and no structures were threatened.
