A Jasper County fugitive was taken into custody Monday after deputies spotted a vehicle connected to him while assisting with a separate traffic crash.
According to Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard, on January 5, 2026, Jasper County deputies were assisting the Jasper Police Department with a traffic crash on Premier Drive near Lowe’s when a deputy observed a vehicle associated with a known fugitive.
The deputy initiated a traffic stop and confirmed the driver as Clendon Antajuan Dasean Spikes, who was recently indicted by a Jasper County Grand Jury on felony charges.
Authorities say the indictment stems from multiple investigations conducted by the Jasper Police Department’s Safe Streets Division in coordination with the Southeast Texas Violent Crime Task Force.
Spikes was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jasper County Jail, where he will await arraignment.
Spikes is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
Sheriff Chuck Havard said his office remains committed to working alongside local and regional law enforcement agencies to locate and arrest individuals wanted on felony charges, ensuring public safety across Jasper County.
