Fugitive captured in Newton County

On Tuesday, April 2nd, 2024, a white female fled from Newton County Deputies in the Old Salem community.

Newton County Constable Pct 1 Colton Havard said, "At approximately 8:25 p.m., I was contacted by a citizen who observed the suspect in a yard, actively engaging in a disturbance. I responded to the area and confirmed she was wanted by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office-Texas for felony warrants.

In fact, she was on a recent episode of “Fugitive on the Run” by Sheriff Zena Stephens. The white female, Rachel Danielle Garrett Cooper, was placed under arrest and transported to the Newton County Jail without incident.
