Fugitive Arrested in Trout Creek Following Traffic Stop

TROUT CREEK, Texas – A routine traffic stop in Newton County led to the arrest of a fugitive wanted on multiple warrants late Saturday night.
At approximately 10:00 p.m. on August 30, 2025, Newton County Sheriff Colton Havard and Deputy C.J. Forsythe conducted a stop on State Highway 87 near FM 1004 for an equipment violation.
The driver, identified as Prentice Rosemon Jr., was found to have several outstanding warrants following a driver’s license check.
Rosemon was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Newton County Jail, where he was booked in on the following warrants:
Bond Forfeiture – Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon
Bond Forfeiture – Possession of a Controlled Substance
Failure to Appear – Prohibited Weapon
Sheriff Havard confirmed the arrest and said Rosemon will remain in custody pending further legal proceedings.
