Fugitive Arrested in Deweyville

DEWEYVILLE, Texas – On Monday, August 25, 2025, at approximately 8:00 a.m., Newton County Sheriff’s Deputy Brent Sonnier conducted a traffic stop on a moped in Deweyville.

The driver, identified as Charles Robert Collins, was found to have an active warrant out of Newton County for Bond Forfeiture on an original charge of Driving While License Invalid with previous convictions.

Collins was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Newton County Jail.

Sheriff Colton Havard commended the efforts of deputies in ensuring wanted fugitives are removed from the community.
