JASPER, Texas — Adults in Newton, Jasper and Orange counties now have the opportunity to enroll in free workforce training courses designed to prepare them for in-demand careers.
Through the Will to Skill program, residents can take classes in Introduction to Welding and Phlebotomy at no cost. The initiative is a partnership between Venture Global LNG, Lamar State College Orange, and the Deep East Texas College and Career Alliance (DETCCA).
An informational session is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 4, from 5:30–6:30 p.m. at DETCCA, located at 450 Bulldog Ave. in Jasper. Attendance at this session is required for course eligibility.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for local adults to gain practical skills in trades that are in high demand both locally and across the state,” said Michelle Hammerly, Workforce and Continuing Education Programs representative with Lamar State College Orange.
Both programs are free and exclusively open to Newton, Jasper and Orange County residents. Seats are limited, and early sign-up is encouraged.
