Four Injured in Highway 63 West Crash After Unsafe Pass, DPS Says

JASPER COUNTY, Texas – Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers are investigating a two-vehicle crash that sent four people to the hospital Monday evening on Highway 63 West near County Road 73.
According to DPS, the crash occurred around 6:59 p.m. on September 1, 2025. A Ford pickup, driven by 22-year-old Hunter Denman of Orange, was traveling eastbound when investigators say he attempted to pass multiple vehicles in an unsafe manner. The pickup struck a westbound Hyundai Accent.
Denman was transported to Jasper Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Hyundai, 27-year-old Gavin Stanley of Jasper, and two passengers were also transported to Jasper Memorial Hospital, all with non-life-threatening injuries.
Emergency response was immediate, with Angelina River VFD, Lake Rayburn VFD, and Beech Grove VFD assisting at the scene. Crews provided medical aid to the injured, secured the crash site, and worked traffic control while the highway was temporarily shut down.
DPS continues to investigate the crash.
