Former Kirbyville City Councilman Wayne Love has passed away at the age of 82

Kirbyville is mourning the loss of a former long-term City Council member, father, and friend. Albert 'Wayne' Love passed away Wednesday morning, June 11th at his home in Kirbyville, surrounded by his family. Wayne's son, Matthew Love said simply, "He had some health issues as of late."


Kirbyville Mayor, Frank George had this to say about his long time friend and brother-in-law, "I have known him for over 50 years. He loved our city. I served with him for 12 years on the City Council and he worked hard to make Kirbyville a better place to live. I know that I will miss his advice and the city will miss him being here, trying to make it a better place to live."


Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at Adams EE Stringer Funeral Chapel in Kirbyville with burial at Sand Ridge Cemetery in Newton County with Military Honors. Visitation will begin at 1 pm prior to service.

Wayne is survived by wife, Joy Love; children, Michael Love and Ashley, David Love and Melissa, Matthew Love, Faythe Love; siblings, Delton Love, Winona Ray, Kay George and Frank, Casie Love, Kerry Arrant and Nancy, Junious Arrant and Vanita; grandchildren, Lyndsie Warner and Brandon, Hannah Vaught and Joshua, Brandon Cowart, Dylon Love, Drake Love, Deekn Love, Joshua Love; numerous great grandchildren.
