Former Jasper County Police Officer plead guilty to another child sex crime

47-year-old John Dees who is currently serving prison time for child sex crimes, pleaded guilty on Monday to an additional charge of Indecency with a Child by Exposure.

As ETB reported last March, Dees had been sentenced to 5 years in State Prison for child sex crimes. At that time, Dees had been on probation for these crimes but had not served any actual prison time despite multiple arrests for sex crimes against children.

When Dees was arrested in September 2022 in Tyler County and again charged with Indecency with a Child, Jasper County DA, Ann Pickle made a motion to revoke Dees probation at that time and State District Judge Craig Mixon sentenced him to 5 years in prison.

Tyler County District Attorney Lucas Babin stated that Monday's plea deal was worked out between the prosecution and defense. On Monday, Dees received a 5-year sentence to run concurrently with the sentence he is already serving on his earlier convictions in Jasper and Orange County. It is noted that the victim in Monday's case was the same child as in the Orange County case.

Dees, is currently being held until March of 2029 in Huntsville and will not be eligible for parole until 2026.

Dees served in Law Enforcement in Jasper and Jefferson County until 2011 when the first case against him came to light.
