Wednesday evening at 8:04 pm, Beech Grove Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to assist the Dam B Volunteer Fire Department with a fire involving a piece of construction equipment.

Beech Grove Fire Chief James Gunter said, "The fire was at the construction site of the new Neches River bridge just inside Tyler County. The fire was accidental. The equipment just overheated from use."

Gunter said that when they arrived, they found a fire on a large pile driver that was sitting on a barge in the water. It was being used for the construction of the new bridge. They were able to quickly extinguished the blaze.

The bridge has reopened.
